Alaska police probe if remains tied to missing family

Alaska police probe if remains tied to missing family

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains found along an Alaskan trail less than two miles from the home of a missing family.

Kenai Police said Sunday that the remains found a day earlier might be connected to the disappearance last May of the four family members.

Kenai police with help from the FBI led a massive search effort when the family went missing. The searches turned up no clues.

Relatives said at the time it appeared the family had left without packing. Their two vehicles remained parked outside their apartment and their rent for June had not been paid.

On Saturday, a person driving down a west Kenai trail spotted clothing and what appeared to be human remains, police said in a statement. Responding officers found remains and items reported missing from the home of Rebecca Adams, 23, and her boyfriend, Brandon Jividen, 38. They were last seen May 27, the day after Memorial Day.

Also missing were Adams' children, Michelle Hundley, 6, and Jaracca Hundley, 3. The family dog also disappeared. Police said it would take time to positively identify the remains and complete the investigation at the scene.

FBI officials Sunday were traveling to Kenai. The department plans a briefing on the case at noon on Monday.

Kenai is a city of 7,100 about 65 miles southwest of Anchorage at the mouth of the Kenai River, Alaska's most popular sport fishing attraction

Jeb Bush working hard to win over Florida

Jeb Bush working hard to win over Florida

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is all ready to win the state. His eyes are on the white house, where his father and brother held office. The first step to get their will be win over the state where he has governed for years.

Bush has governed the state from 1999 to 2007.

Florida is the state which has determined elections, notably the 2000 elections where his brother won the presidency with just a handful of votes from this state. It would be massive embarrassment for him if he loses to the state after governing it for so long.

President Barack Obama garnered the support from the state in both of his victorious elections and this state holding so much significance Bush is going to turn all his resources towards the state.

There are probably two threats to Mr. Bush’s presidency, one is the risk that the state could turn to a democratic candidate and the other being the Florida-based Republican senator Marco Rubio who is going to file his nomination.

If he can’t win it, then it would be very difficult for him to win the presidential elections, being the early frontrunner for the republican nomination.

He has maintained his relationship and kept his friends very close ever after he left office in 2007 and this could really help him out in 2016 presidential elections.

According to a report from times, Bush has $50 million to spend for the elections and campaign offering free goodies to the campaign donors.

They are other competitors other than Rubio like Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee who can give him a tough competition.

Bush is a native of Texas but he adopted Florida as his home in 1980’s. So it would be really embarrassing for him if he loses to this state after building and maintaining relationships for so long.

PTI's return to NA hinges on formation of judicial commission

Qureshi said all intra-party bodies will be dissolved and PTI will hold a re-election within its folds.- File

ISLAMABAD: Paskistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday said the party will consider returning to the National Assembly after formation of the judicial commission agreed to by the government.

Know more: Govt, PTI agree on formation of poll inquiry commission.

Talking to journalists after a grand party meeting at Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala, Qureshi said PTI had decided to take action on Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed’s recommendations and will dissolve all intra-party bodies in days to come.

Justice Wajihuddin had been tasked by PTI chief Imran Khan to scrutinize complaints related to PTI’s intra-party elections held in 2013. After conducting his probe, Justice Wajihuddin had recommended that the party dissolve all bodies and hold a re-election.

“Respecting Justice Wajihuddin’s findings, the party has decided to conduct a re-election within its folds,” said Qureshi. “Till elections are held again, persons and bodies nominated by Imran Khan will represent the party on the national level.”

Qureshi went on to say that PTI is a democratic party and will always promote democratic values.

“This development is a first for Pakistan, where a political party is dissolving its bodies on the recommendations of an independent commission,” said Qureshi.

SBP cuts benchmark interest rate to 8%

KARACHI: In line with analyst expectations, the State Bank of Pakistan reduced the benchmark discount rate on Saturday by 0.5% to 8% for the next two months, bringing the cumulative decline in interest rates in the economy to 2% since November 2014, due in large part to a sharp decline in inflation.
The discount rate is the interest rate at which commercial banks are allowed to borrow from the central bank’s discount window on an overnight basis. Central banks use this monetary policy tool to control money supply in the economy in order to achieve price stability and economic growth targets.
“Headline Consumer Price Index inflation continues to follow a downward trajectory and is expected to be well below the annual target of 8%,” the SBP said in its monetary policy announcement, adding that it now projects the average CPI inflation for 2014-15 to be in the range of 4%-5%. Low prices in the global oil market led to year-on-year CPI inflation of 3.2% in February, which is the lowest reading in the last 11 years.
Out of 25 investment banks, brokerages and other research houses surveyed recently by Business Recorder Research, as many as 20 predicted the SBP would cut the discount rate by 0.5%. Consistent reduction in the yields of Pakistan Investment Bonds and Market Treasury Bills since February also indicated that the bond market has already priced in a decrease.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Taurus Securities Head of Research Zeeshan Afzal said the realignment of the monetary policy was expected given the existence of the record-high real interest rate, which is defined as the prevailing interest rate minus inflation in the economy.
The approximate difference between the return on oneyear government paper and the CPI stood over 5% before the latest rate cut. This means businesses had to pay an exceedingly high cost of funds because the average spread between the two rates has been only 1.7% since July 2009, Afzal noted.
The large-scale manufacturing sector – which grew 2.2% in the first seven months of fiscal 2015 – is expected to gain traction due to the rate cut and low prices of raw materials, the SBP said. However, representatives of the industry believe the latest rate cut of 50 basis points is insufficient. (One basis point is one-hundredth of 1%.)
“We had demanded a rate cut of at least 100 basis points. Industrial growth cannot be achieved unless credit availability is made easy. Along with cutting the interest rate, the SBP should also ensure that banks increase their lending to the small and medium-size businesses, which are the real engines of economic growth,” Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI)’s Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra told The Express Tribune.
Painting an overall rosy picture, the SBP said an increasing number of economic indicators in the current fiscal year have moved in a favourable direction. “The government’s efforts to contain the fiscal deficit have been on track in the first half of 2014-15 despite slightly slower growth in revenue collection,” it said. SBP’s optimism is in spite of recent news reports that suggest the government is resorting to ‘creative accounting’ in order to contain its budget deficit to 4.9% of GDP. The government plans to delay some expenditure obligations besides seeking an additional Rs20 billion from profits of the SBP in order to control its budget deficit, according to news reports.
The monetary policy statement said GDP growth in the current fiscal year is expected to be higher than that of the last year when the economy expanded by 4.1%. However, the SBP stopped short of mentioning that the GDP growth rate that the government projected at the beginning of the current fiscal year is 5.1%. Recent reports suggest the government is likely to miss the 5.1% target for GDP growth and now expects it to hover around 4.5%.
Referring to the stability in foreign exchange market and an increase in foreign exchange reserves, the SBP said the external sector outlook remains stable.
While the SBP appears to be comfortable with the rebound in the local currency, most analysts believe that the newfound strength of the rupee has hurt Pakistan’s export competitiveness. According to Afzal, the pound, the yen and the euro have already depreciated by 1.2%, 2% and 6.5% against the rupee, respectively, since January 1.
“With strong workers’ remittances and declining import growth, current account deficit has shrunk in Jul-Feb compared to the same period last year. The improvement is in spite of subdued exports performance,” the SBP said.

US can’t succeed without Pak Navy’s help: Vice Admiral Miller

Vice Admiral Miller

MANAMA - The commander of US Naval Forces Central Command has acknowledged the contribution of Pakistan Navy to ensuring maritime peace in the region, saying the United States cannot succeed without the support of Pak Navy.

“We cannot be successful in this region, without the contribution of the Pakistan Navy,” Vice Admiral John W Miller, commander, US Naval Forces Central Command, US 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), told a group of Pakistani media during a visit to its headquarters here in Bahrain’s capital.
Vice Admiral Miller who has spent a majority of his operational career in the US Central Command area of responsibility said ties between the naval forces of Pakistan and the United States were better than ever before. “We are quite fortunate to have Pakistan as part of our team, and they are not only just great team mates but also good friends,” he said. The headquarters of the US Naval Central Command and US Navy Fifth Fleet are co-located at the Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain and ensure maritime security in an area spreading over 2.5 million square miles of the ocean.
The headquarters also coordinates and conducts combat operations against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Admiral Miller congratulated Pakistan for assuming the command of Combined Maritime Task Force 151 for the sixth time from Thailand. Commodore Asif Hameed Siddiqui SI (M) from the Pakistan Navy is now commanding the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) on counter-piracy operations. Miller said he had been at the US Navy’s Central Command Headquarters for three years and most of the time one of the two task forces had been under the command of a Pakistani naval officer. He said it was a significant achievement and something for Pakistan to be proud of.
“No nation has contributed more to command our task forces than Pakistan, so we are really proud of the relationship that we have with the Pakistan Navy,” he said. Recalling his visit to Pakistan Navy’s War College in Lahore recently, Miller said he was impressed by the quality of the officers who were well educated and trained. “They are a delight to work with, quite professional and their ships are very well maintained.” When asked to comment on the operation Zarb e Azb, Vice Admiral Millar said counterterrorism operations being carried out anywhere in the world were very important to stop terrorists activities.
“It is equally important to go after the ideology to curb terrorism as it does not matter what they call themselves whether ISIS, Daesh, ISIL or Al Qaeda,” he said.
Vice Admiral Miller who also looks after combat operations in Iraq and Syria said over 2,800 airstrikes had so far been conducted from the two aircraft carriers.
Currently, two aircraft carriers, USS Carl Vinson and French Charles de Gaulle, are positioned in the area to launch combat aircraft against targets of ISIL. President Obama described ISIS as ISIL which refers to the undefined region around Syria, historically referred to as the Levant and roughly includes modern-day Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine and Jordan.
The vice admiral said a lot of strikes, particularly in Syria, were designed to destroy the oil infrastructure, currently being used by the ISIL fighters. “It not only destroys one of their funding sources, but also their mobility.” Without giving any timeline for routing out ISIL, he said last June its fighters seemed to be operating like a regular army; they were mobile and able to capture large tracts of land quickly. But today it was like a terrorist organisation and it was very hard for them to move about with less access to funding and ability to conduct new operations. He said Iraqis were fighting back and had taken back their lands.
Vice Admiral Miller, also commander of the Combined Maritime Force (CMF), said it was a very unique organisation comprising 30 countries working together voluntarily. He said on any given day, there were around 40 to 45 US ships in the region, and combined with the CMF members and others the total rises to around 70 ships, working in coordination to ensure maritime security in the region. He said the region was witnessing unstable time, however, the maritime environment was calm; oil was flowing out while goods and services were entering the region without any incident, as many countries in the Gulf get 80 percent of food and other goods through the sea.
Commodore Asif Hameed Siddiqui SI(M) who is now commanding the 30-nation Combined Task Force (CTF) 151 said Pakistan was playing an active role in keeping international merchant shipping lanes safe from attacks by pirates and terrorist activities, through constant vigilance.

Changing the way you think others see you

Changing the way you think others see you

Changing the way you think others see you

The way you think others see you is not the way you see yourself.
It is however, a projection of what you “think” they see and so it creates an image and energetically feeds that image. Lifting you up or bringing you down, you get to decide to see yourself at our best. Or you can send a picture of yourself spiraling down.
In life when we have changed sometimes our friends and loved ones and family do not comprehend the change.
Using our minds we must send them a new mental image. One complete with your new emotional feelings showing a change in attitude about an issue. Use your mind and project a new image.
A new image is needed in order for the other parties to disengage from the current or most recent one and see you in a new light.

A NightMare

Yes my son has waited for this since Christmas and last night I thought I would surprise him when he gets home tonight by having this hooked up. What a night mare it has been, the XBOX people say I half to hook it to the internet to set it up, then the Walmart people tell me today that I can't hook it to a old TV with out a AV adapter for a XBOX 360. Then they don't sell them I got to call XBOX the number for XBOX is not XBOX's number it is a thing that if you try this and this you will get a 100 rebate check to spend at Walmart and Target. Then you only have 15 days to cancel or you will be charged 39.00 a month for resturants discounts and magazines.

Have You Ever Felt So Smart You Were Stupid?

I sometimes allow myself to get ahead of myself. Knowledge may be power, but it is also the path to 'stupid'. I am not saying I'm stupid, just that I sometimes act without thinking things through. It is in my nature to be helpful but sometimes it gets me into trouble.

I love M***k more than she will ever know yet in helping someone I have made her concerned about that love. I feel very stupid at the moment and will be sitting out the afternoon from Driving and my normal activities of researching addiction, writing and posting in several places.
It would seem I have allowed the internet to talk hold of me far too much.
Have you ever done something and then realized it was not good without talking it through?

Lovely Snow

As most of you know I am not a big fan of the snow. Mother Nature and I have had some serious talks this winter about all the snow that was falling while we were living at my mother and brother in laws house. We did a lot of shoveling while we lived there. Some days it was so pretty to see it snow but then it just kept coming doing and made us envy the snow and winter. Now all I can say is looking out our living room window and watching the snow fall is beautiful.

Don't get me wrong I will be beyond happy when Spring is here and I look forward to the summer months as well. I do however have to say that being able to just sit here and watch the snow falling outside, is a great way to spend a nice quiet Saturday at home with my hubby and Sassy Girl. Knowing that we will never have to shovel for at least a year or while we are still living in our apartment, Priceless! Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

Camping VS Glamping

Up here in Washington Stare camping is a BIG deal with all the fresh water and salt water rivers, beaches, islands, we have the desert, and rain forests as well as evergreen forests in mountains with peaks and valleys and even a volcano. No you cannot camp there.

Being born and raised in Louisiana we did not sleep outside on the ground! They do up here! I went camping with some friends and Thank Goodness they knew how to camp because I do not. Hang the packed food in trees to keep the bears away, what?! Scare me! Tent or rough it on the ground, make fire, bathroom is a tree and bring your own paper!

Then they are the “Glampers,” decked out fifth wheel home with extended space, heat, lights, bed, a flush toilet, shower, kitchen, fluff, fluff, fluff. I have a girlfriend and she and her husband have one of these and she drives it! It was a very odd sensation riding along in this home on wheels as it sped down the road.

Are you a Camper or a Glamper?

20 Wild Party Ideas

20 Wild Party Ideas

20 Wild Party Ideas

Wild Party

1. Drinking Buddy party -

Everyone gets paired at random, (ideallyopposite sex) and linked together with handcuffs, zip ties oranything else you can find. Every pair needs at least one bottle ofwine, champagne or a 40oz of beer. The pair has to finish the bottleas they converse with each others friends. Good way to get twogroups of friends mingling together. Good luck going to thebathroom though.

2. Hipster or Homeless -

People dress up as either one. You writewhat you are on a piece of paper and put it in your pocket. You spend the night guessing. Hipsters and the homeless look almost exactly the same. Usually the only difference is the glasses or trimmed beard. Good luck.

3. No Cell Phone party -

Everyone's cell phone is locked in a closetupon entry. People will be literally sweating for 30 minutes. Thenthe drinking and talking begins. Human interaction. Weird stuff.4. Blackout party -

Remove all the light bulbs from the house andtell everybody to bring a flashlight. It might get pretty weird, but the drinking will most likely help.

5. Snow Pants or No Pants -

Pretty straight forward. You're onlyallowed to wear snow pants or no pants at all. Since summeris rolling around, snow pants will probably become less likely.

6. Three Parts party -

You can only wear three items of clothing. For example, 1 sock, pants and a shirt. Leaves for a ton ofpossibilities, like choosing to just wear 3 socks... You can imaginethe rest.

7. A-B-C pt.1:

Anything But Clothes party - People can wearanything but clothes. e.g. trash bags, saran wrap, lampshades, tape, cardboard boxes, or whatever wild things you can come upwith. As long as it isn't even close to be considered clothing.

8. A-B-C pt.2:

Anything But Cups party - Everyone bring a noncup to drink out of. (e.g. dog bowl, old scuba helmet, cone, leatherbag). Most of these "cups" will be pretty hard to put down, soeveryone will be forced to drink. TIP: Combine pt.1 with pt.2 for anextra wild night.

9. Eighties Aerobics party

 - Spandex. Spandex everywhere.

10. Graffiti Party -

Everyone comes wearing a plain white shirtor some sort of cheap white top. Then everyone gets a markerwhen they come in. Things will start to get crazy after a fewdrinks, great way to break the ice. On top of it all, you mightwake up with a couple names and numbers if you're lucky.

TIP: It is best to use washable sharpies, that way it will easilycome out of any furniture, flooring, walls or people that it mayget written on.

Wild Party tricks
Wild Party

11. Rubik's Cube party -

Come dressed in as many differentcoloured items (colours of the Rubik's Cube) as possible. Thegoal is to swap clothing with other people until you are onlywearing one colour. Definitely a good way to force some socialinteraction.

12. Monopoly Mayhem -

$5 for invited guests. They receive $500in Monopoly money when they arrive. You then make wagersor dares with people throughout the night, and the person with themost Monopoly money at the end gets the real money. It reallypicks up when you realize you can ‘dare’ people to make out withyou.

13. I Shouldn't Be Here party -

Dress as you were supposed to bedoing anything but being at a party. Eg. Scuba gear, girls in nightiesetc...

14. High School Stereotype party -

Everyone comes dressed as ahigh school stereotype, but the catch is that it can't be the one thatyou might have been in high school.

15. Boots n' Boxers party -

There's just something extremely sexyabout a girl in a pair of boots and boxers.

16. Silly Hats Only party -

Hats are mandatory, the more creativeand hilarious the better. Non of that baseball cap garbage. It'll getdozens of people out of their comfort zones and mingling withothers in no time.

17. The Player Hater's Ball -

Everyone dresses as ridiculouslypimped out as they can, and you spend the night drinking andinsulting each other.

18. Gender Bender party -

Basically, guys dressed up like girls, girlsdressed up like guys and everyone gets crazy drunk. Two reasonswhy this party is amazing. 1 - The guys will look pretty funny tryingto fit into low cut tops and short skirts. 2 - As the night goes on,people get more and more drunk, enough to momentarily forgetthat they are at Gender Bender. As a result, guys (dressed as girls)might start drunkenly chatting up someone in a girls costume, forgetting that it is a guy. Can happen to girls as well, but usuallynot as often.

19. A Recession Dressin' party -

You can only wear a total of$15.00 (or some other predetermined amount) of clothing. Youmust have the receipts on your body somewhere. You can chooseto wear cheap exterior clothing and no underwear, or just wearslightly more expensive underwear. Can't really go wrong eitherway.

20. Black Tie and Board Shorts party -

Black tie from the waist upand beachwear from the waist down. Definitely a summertime hit, especially if a pool is accessible.

Beautiful Romantic Moonlight

Chasing the moonlight
I thought I had it all. The one reason to be happy when my life was in a mess of its own. A reason not to give up and be the person that I should be. A course to be a better man, a better human, to be sensitized. I should take off my thinking hat. I was wrong in all the ways possible.
They say you ought to fight for the things that you love. But what if those things don't want to be fought for? At least not by you. Do you still fight to certify your battle, your reasons? Do you still raise arm to show that someone how much they mean? How much they should want you to fight for them? Or do you move on and find happiness in other lands?
Is it much easier to forget something you can't get out of your mind? Is it better to run away from something you're holding on? Is it possible to ascend downwards? Is it possible to hate the very thing that made you lose yourself and be the you that is concealed?
Is life better off running or living? Is life better of winning or living? Do you ever really catch a shooting star? Do you ever try to chase the moonlight?

Times Changes Things

A year ago today, my world fell apart yet again, I was dating a man who I thought loved me and wanted to spend his life with me. I was just coming out of a horrible marriage and was longing to hear those words I had so very much missed for the last 24 years. I was vulnerable and believe everything he was feeding me even when my intuition was screaming something wasn't right, I continued because my life was so barren from emotion.

I bought into it hook, line and sinker and the day I found out he was nothing more than a sociopathic liar, I kicked him to the curb, literally with no second chances. I called him out today, for everyone to see. No man was ever going to get over on me more than once. I was done and I was truly hurt as I trusted yet again, after all the pain I endure during my marriage and that he knew all what I went through, he still chose me to hurt this way.

It was more than I could bear, I shut down emotionally and went into my writing, I didn't let another man get close to me.
I instead got closer to God, I prayed and I cried and I let time heal me.
As time went on I realized the lessons he had taught me from this pain, that I could make it on my own without a man, that I taught my girls never to put up with a lying, cheating man, that I should always listen to my intuition, always.
This also taught me that even when your hurt, you should still open up and reach out to others that are also hurting as I did to his ex wife, even though everyone thought I was crazy to do so.
I knew we were both victims of his sick mind and that she was a good women that needed a friend so so I offered my friendship to her.

Now here it is a year later and yet again my world has changed 360, I have my God who gets me through anything, I have an incredible family and wonderful friends, I have a business I love, a new home I never imagined getting, I finished my book and am publishing it next month, I am happy and peaceful and I found a great new friend.

I am truly grateful for the pain he caused me because I would have never found myself and these lessons without it.

So today my friends, no matter how dark it might be don't give up hope, hold on, look for the lessons that the pain is teaching you and know that when you look back a year later what a difference it can make.

World Cup Cricket

Recently, I have read the news that the cricket will be restricted to 10 teams that in the next World Cup Cricket. I do think that the associate teams should be given chance and I do think that there should be at least 14 teams playing in the World Cup.

One of the reasons that the teams are restricted to 10 is that most of the test teams do not want to lose matches against the associate teams and they do not want to spoil their reputation. Another is standard of the matches. Some people have said that the standard of games would be lost if more teams play in World Cup Cricket.

Most of the associate teams are doing very well in the matches and they should be given chance to play against the test teams and also the cricket should be globalized and more teams should play cricket.

Who Will Win Cricket World cup 2015????

My First love

 My First loves...

I write about all kinds of things but all of it comes from my heart and what I am passionate about.
This topic touches my heart more than any other I have written about because I am such a romantic at heart.

I believe in happily ever after, in Cinderella and prince charming, in flowers, cards, slow dancing and soul mates...yes I am Tinker bell, I believe. ...
And I definitely believe in first loves and how they hold a place in your heart forever. How do I know this? Because my first love was my high school sweetheart and it was the most real love I have ever found in my life.

It shaped my life so much I wrote a book about it, it's been a lasting love story through out my life. He taught me to love, to believe in love at first site, he taught me to try new things, to open up my mind and my heart. He taught me that I could do anything, and that with love you  could over come any obstacle. He was sweet, kind, caring, romantic and loved me like no one has ever done before or since.

But I wanted more...I wanted the good life, money and traveling and a bigger lifestyle than I had growing up. This small town and this country boy didn't fit into my grand scheme of things and so I left looking for a better life.
Somehow I thought I could see the world and still come back to this man who held my heart.
But life is strange and doesn't always work the way you want it to and to my dismay he had moved on.
There was never a day I didn't think of him, of us, no matter how many men I had in and out of my life he always held my heart.

He came back into my life years later while I was in the mist of my horrible marriage and he said he didn't know me anymore, that I would never give my power away like I had done in this marriage. Who was I ? Who did I become?  That statement changed my life forever, his words and his belief in me gave me the courage to take a stand and take back my self worth.

I began looking for my old self and realized I liked me, the real me, not the me my ex wanted me to be. We still kept in touch and even now still he holds a piece of my heart.
I am grateful for his love and support and for being a part of my life.
Yes, I believe that one day I will find a true love like this again....because no matter what I am a true romantic at heart.

Fun Time At Teenage

Fun Time At Teenage

I bet you can guess by the title that this post is all about raising my teens! Well, at least it's a place to vent about raising my teens.. Lol
This has been a fun week of learning that even really, really good kids will lie like a dog if they think they can get away with it. Oh yes.. Parents beware... When a teen wants something.. They will find a way to do it or get it!
Now... The upside is...that if they are very good kids...then they are probably very bad at being bad and will get caught..like mine did! The downside (besides breaking rules and getting caught) is that it only took two hours to lose everyone's trust...and it's going to take a whole lot longer to earn it back!
The result? Losing the privilege of driving to school, losing phone time, computer time and grounded indefinitely! Sounds like the parents (us) will suffer for this too! The price of good parenting I guess!
Have you had to deal with learning your kids weren't so perfect?! How did you handle it?

Beautiful Sunday Morning

Beautiful Sunday Morning

Good morning everyone! It's a lovely Sunday morning here, the sun is shining and temperatures are on the rise. Spring is definitely around the corner! All things considered we haven't had a bad winter here, yes it's been extremely cold and at times we have gotten a few centimeters of snow but for the most part it's been pretty good.

Our roads usually get closed due to blowing snow but I think one road was only closed once this year so I'm chalking that up to a good winter! Although I'm looking forward to Spring I am NOT looking forward to Summer, I absolutely hate the heat! If we could just have 2 seasons (Spring and Fall) I would be a happy camper! Enjoy your day everyone!

A Visit To Malta

A Visit To Malta

A few years back, I visited this beautiful island. It was my friend's idea. We both flew in from different countries, I by the way of Rome, she came from Moscow. It was great experience, and we had a really good time!

Malta is a wonderful mixing pot of different cultures. Because of its central location in the sea, this island was a coveted spot by many countries. English, Italians, Arabs tried at some point or another to take over the island. Because of that, Malta has crazy exciting history, many secrets, traditions but also it's very modern and comfortable to travel.

Going from the airport, I remember being amazed at the sandlike castles and architectures, blue skies and air filled with aromas of herbs such as thyme, aniseed and flowers.

Mdina was a particularly amazing place to visit. It has Arabic like city arrangement, and all the buildings date back to the Medieval ages.

I'd love to go back there one day.

The Cursed Clown

 The Cursed Clown

Uncle Jack was well known in town back in the day. He had lots of money, and he was loved by the ladies. Most of his money, and thus his ladies, he got from unprincipled acts. Uncle Jack would 'take possession' of certain items that were not formerly his own, and would sell them to awaiting patrons, who were just as underhanded as he was.

Uncle Jack was also well known for another reason. He had the 'evil eye', or so people believed.

The notion of his evil eye started after a school brawl with the big bad "Nelson the bully". You see, after Nelson finished pummeling Uncle jack to a pulp, Uncle Jack got up, dusted himself off, wiped the blood from his lip and stared at Nelson. As the story goes, every kid in the onlooking crowd could feel a chill as Uncle Jack said,"Nelson, I will seek my revenge, and NO ONE will be there to help you."

The next day, Nelson did not show up at school. Uncle Jack maintained until the day he died, that he 'had no recollection of what happened to that scum bag'.

Anyway, back to the story. I was Uncle Jack's favorite niece. Actually, I was his ONLY niece, but that is beside the point.

He helped plan my 7th birthday party. He wanted to go all out, as he had just made a 'big sale'. The cake was huge, there were helium balloons, (that was a big deal back then) and a pony ride. He hired Sidney the clown to make balloon animals and entertain.

All was going as planned, and Sidney the clown showed up. Apparently, Sidney had a bit of a booze problem, because he arrived completely sloshed. He staggered around the yard a bit, and muttered some unintelligible gabble. He then ran into the table, knocking over the overly decorated cake, and bounced into the fence that was surrounding Petey the pony. One piece of the fence fell, and Petey went cantering down the street. On his way, Petey trampled on the helium balloons, popping most of them, and scaring all the kids at my party. Uncle Jack hit the ground at the noise.

Once everyone regained their composure, Uncle Jack got red in the face. He was very disconsolate that the party was ruined.

Uncle Jack looked at the discombobulated Sidney and stated " I will seek my revenge, and NO ONE will be there to help you."

No one ever seen Sidney the Clown again. Uncle Jack said he must have skipped town after the embarrassment. I myself, am not so sure.
